Family Director Update
Family Picnic: The annual family picnic was Sunday, October 5. It was a big success. The weather was perfect and around 45 Knights and their families attended. The food was great and a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped with this event. Also, a big thank you to all those who prepared side dishes or desserts to share.
Felice Cuores: The last dance took place on October 11. Wow! What a night. There were 178 guests who attended and 32 volunteers, with 10 from Ascension. Ascension was the sponsor for this past dance and the Ladies Auxiliary came through with flying colors by bringing delicious cookies for everyone. They also decorated the cafeteria with Halloween decorations. The guests really enjoyed showing off their Halloween costumes. The next dance will be Saturday, November 8 and will be a Thanksgiving theme.
Sunday with Santa will be on December 14, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the MPR. This is one of the most fun events that we do, but it takes a lot of volunteers to make it go smoothly.
Golf Tournament Scores a Hole in One
Golfers, donors, sponsors and volunteers gathered at Aberdeen Golf Club in Eureka on Sept. 22 for the 23rd annual Ascension KOC Children’s Charity Scramble Golf Tournament. A decidedly upbeat mood was generated by a full house of 144 golfers who supported the two tournament charities: the Ascension Early Childhood Center and the Academy of St. Louis.
Eighteen fun holes of course games and contests were followed by lunch in the pavilion with both a live and silent auction. Our host, Zip Rzeppa, led the entertaining fundraising effort in what proved to be the largest tournament auction in several years!
It was an exciting, fun day. Ascension Council Knights can join in the excitement by attending the October Council meeting October 21 to witness the check presentations we will make to the directors for both schools, Terri O’Daniel of the Academy of St. Louis and Liz Talerico of the Ascension Little School.

Donahoe gave us an update on the plans for a new Fisher House to be built in downtown St. Louis so that it would be more closely located to the VA and other hospitals.
